Fire station
Papendrecht
Station fits firefighters like a jacket

The partially transparent barracks fit the firefighters like a glove. Moreover, from the circular concrete foundation to the roof, the building is sustainably designed and built.

Together with architect RoosRos Architecten and contractor BMN De Klerk we formed the construction team of the new fire station of Papendrecht. An intensive period of designing resulted in the start of construction at the end of August 2020. The building is located on the same site right next to the municipal yard that was also designed by us.

Sustainable
The municipality of Papendrecht and the architect wanted to build the new fire station as sustainably as possible. This was implemented in various ways. For example, by using 'Freement', which is a circular concrete mortar. Made from recycled cement from concrete rubble, which contributes to lower CO2 emissions. The construction is also circular. It can be completely disassembled and reused at the end of the building's life. Other sustainable applications include solar panels, all-electric installations, charging stations for electric bicycles and cars and a wadi.

Steel, sandwich panels and glass
With the driving of the first pile, construction of the fire station officially started on August 27, 2020. By applying smart detailing and multiple design proposals, where fast switching was possible by the construction team, we as Pelecon were able to make the difference.
