Berkel & Rodenrijs
A beautiful office for one of our partners

How cool is it when you get to work on the new premises of one of your best partners? Well, that’s what we experienced. We were approached by Heembouw Kantoren to make the structural calculations for their new office in Berkel en Rodenrijs. What is unique about this new office is that it is largely constructed from circular building products.

Henk van Vliet talks about Heembouw's request. "The wish was to develop an office with a pleasant working and living climate in which everything had to be done in terms of sustainable and nature-inclusive construction. This resulted in a wooden façade made of sustainably grown wood, a green façade and the released building materials were reused. Solar panels were installed for charging electric cars and formaldehyde-free materials were used. The foundation was poured with fully recycled concrete. This is a New Horizon/ Rutte Group product that turns old demolition concrete into new concrete. In this work, this was the first application of this new type of concrete in the Netherlands."

Henk continues, "the construction was a challenge for Pelecon. This is because of the overhanging first floor containing offices. We developed an extremely load-bearing structure where the long façade of glass below it carries the block of the first floor. Fortunately, this allowed us to keep the architect's design intact."
