At the Fokker Logistics Park, DC “3D” will be realized right next to Schiphol’s runways (view of the East Runway and Aalsmeer Runway). The DC will be built next to the current warehouse where we have made use of the existing adjacent foundation. The facility will have an area of approximately 10,300 m², which will be used for air freight services from the Benelux.
The building, designed by Bronsvoort Blaak Architects BNA, meets all modern building standards and will of course be equipped with solar panels to meet the sustainability ambition. The office will have a double-gable construction and a concrete floor above the accommodation areas. All this considering the noise levels involved with a building right next to a runway. For the proper handling of air cargo, Jumbo and ULD docks have been applied in addition to “standard” docks.
Unique features of this project include the short time frame in which the steel structure was worked out in 3D. Steel prices were under pressure at the time of design, a quick switch had to be made by contractor Van der Heijden Bouw en Ontwikkeling.
