Pelecon saves for the food bank

Geplaatst op: 5 February 2021

WITH PELECON, WE LIKE TO WORK FOR A GOOD PURPOSE. WHEN OUR COLLEAGUE PASCAL WAS REQUESTED BY LIONS CLUB HERA FROM GOUDA WHETHER PELECON WANTED TO “SAVE” FOR THE FOOD BANK, WE OF COURSE DIDN’T DOUBT FOR A MOMENT ABOUT THIS.

Food banks (Voedselbanken Nederland) in the Netherlands distribute packages of food products every week among selected families, singles and homeless people. Most of these products are made available by food producers and distributors. In today’s difficult times, these organizations are less able to donate products to food banks than before. Lions clubs in the Netherlands have therefore started to collect Douwe Egberts points, the value of which is increased by 15% by Douwe Egberts. Subsequently, the points are exchanged for packs of coffee that are donated to the Food Bank. What started as a spontaneous campaign in Voorburg has now grown into a widely supported national collection involving over 120 Lions clubs, all food banks in the Netherlands and over 10,000 volunteers.

DOUWE EGBERTS POINTS BOX

After a nice conversation with the ladies of Lions Club Hera, Pelecon was soon appointed as a collection point for companies from Gouda. We got a box at the office in which we did not only do our own Douwe Egberts points. We have also actively recruited among our relations, they were enthusiastic and, after hearing or reading about our box, spontaneously brought along their Douwe Egberts points!

THE PROFIT!

Last edition, the food banks received a total of 134,000 packs of coffee. This means that one family can be provided with one pack of coffee every 2 weeks. A fantastic yield! We will be a collection point for Douwe Egberts points again next year! Can you help us by saving your points for our box for the coming year? Thanks!
